Abridged History :

Unlike his surname may suggest, the dragons don't have any king. He was given this name for his wisdom and for his role as the guardian of Shuijinggong, the island where dragons came to rest and mate. Outside the island, he is feared by locals. When Sun Wukong come to his island, looking for a weapon, he received a cold welcome by the Dragon King who don't like the island being visited by "non-dragons". Sun Wukong killed his son's friend and almost destroyed the Island, what enraged the dragon. Sun Wukong try to outmatch him, in vain, and was put to jail. After the Monkey's escape, Ao Guang sentence his third son, who helped him escape, to death. Thanks to Mo'ang intervention, Mushu kept his life, but was banised from the Island. Years later, the Dragon King allied himself with Ravana, the Bull Demon King in his war against Sun Wukong and his allies. He will be killed during the war by combined effort of Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujin. Ao Guang is his guardian's name, his real name being Qing Long.

- He is the mixed of several Dragon Kings of the Chinese Mythology, that's why he has so many children.
