History (abriged) :

Born as Jia Baoyu, he is a noble man, calm peaceful and wise. After the death of his older brother, he became the heir of the Jia family, one of the rising families of the East Empire. As a teenager, he fell in love for his childhood friend Lin Daiyu despite being promised to someone else, Xue Baochai. He never overcome the death of his first love. The night before his wedding, he received a message by dream from Guanyin, giving him the mission to go the West to retrieve a powerful scroll. He bring with him his family treasure, the Jade Stone. Due to his ties with the Imperial family (his sister was the late Emperor's wife), he is hunted by the men of Dong Zhuo, who just make a coup to take the power. So, he chose to get the name Xuanzang, as the Star advised him (name he kepted for the rest of his life). He was saved by Chao Gai in the beginning of his journey and stay under his protection until he met Sun Wukong, and after, three other disciples : Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujin and Mushu. During his journey, he gains longevity but also infertility. After a journey of 14 years, he return in his country and discovered it in civil war, shattered the Empire into three kindoms. Following the path of peace, he managed to appeased the tensions and unified the Empire once again. He then became the new Emperor and still rules over the realm, even 200 after. Some years from now, he faced a invasion by Hun barbarians, by manage to stop them thanks to the heroic behavior of the Warrioress named Mulan whom he proposed, but she refused.

Notes :
- His family is pretty complex (not as much as Emma's and Henry's nevertheless), so it is devellopped in its own article.
- The character of Xuanzang his heavily tied to buddism. I try my best to part him apart from that without loosing what makes him unique.
